Blade Film Locations

Blade (1998) Film Locations

I would feel comfortable saying that Blade really kicked off the modern Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie was released a decade before Iron Man.

Many scenes were filmed in downtown Los Angeles. You can spend a leisurely day walking to many of them.

After the police take the charbroiled remains of Quinn (Donald Logue) to the hospital, he re-animates and bites Dr. Karen Jenson (N’Bushe Wright). Then he leaps through the hospital window.

The building Quinn leaps from is the Walter P. Story Building located at the corner of W. 6th St. and S. Broadway. Blade decides to save Dr. Jenson by chucking her out the window and the leaping after her. They both land on top of 217 W. 6th St. This non-descript building was built in 1898 and has a remarkable interior. Ernest Batchelder, renowned tile innovator and artist, created the Dutch Chocolate Shop interiors in 1914. If you have the opportunity to take a tour of the location, do so, it is well worth it.

Late on, Blade drops Dr. Jenson off near her apartment. Blade pulls into Frank Court from W. 5th Street. Both the Alexandria Hotel and Jewelry Trades Building are seen in the background.

In a later scene, Blade goes after officer Krieger, a vampire familiar, who attacked Dr. Jenson. In the background both the Chet Williams Building and the Alexandria Hotel can be seen.

Blade and Dr. Jenson head to the Vampire club passing the Tower Theatre. The Tower Theatre is a popular film location. Fellow supernatural comic book hero, John Constantine, fought off a demon near the Theatre in Constantine.

The club is located at the Merritt Building. The building was completed in 1915

Blade has a meeting with his nemesis Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) at the Maguire Gardens which sits near the downtown Central Library.

The meeting does not go well and Frost tosses a child into the street. And with movie magic, we end up at W. 7th St and S. Broadway. The State Theatre and Building are in the background. This is quite a toss.
