Night Hunter (1996) Film Locations

I don’t remember how I was pulled into watching this movie. Maybe it was because of Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson, or maybe it was because it filmed in downtown Los Angeles. I am sure it was probably a deep dive into the difference between a Los Angeles vampire hunter in this movie versus Blade. Sort of a compare and contrast academic endeavor.

The historic Farmers and Merchants Bank on the corner of Main and 4th in downtown Los Angeles appears quite frequently in this movie. Built in 1905, the bank continued operating until closing in the late 1980s.

The building stands out with its Classical Revival style, reminiscent of Roman Temple with Corinthian columns.

Eventually, a chase scene needs to take place and pass by the Nate Starkman Building. Quite a change in this area of downtown from the mid-1990s to now. Anyway, a lot of people would recognize the Nate Starkman Building as Paddy’s Pub from Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The building, which is also known as the Pan Pacific Warehouse, was built in 1908. The building was originally occupied by the Brinstool Paint Co. There is some conjecture on when the Nate Starkman name arose.

In the 1980s, Bruce Licher and his wife, artist Karen Nielsen Licher moved into the building. Bruce started a record label and named it after the building. In an interview, he stated “We named it after this building we were in, Nate Starkman and Son, thinking people would love to buy records from Nate.”
