Rocketship X-M Film Locations
This 1950 science fiction film starring Lloyd Bridges was filmed at some of my favorite hiking/camping locations in California.
Because of a malfunction, the astronauts end up on Mars rather than the Moon. Red Rock Canyon State Park in Cantil near Ridgecrest portrays Mars. The science fiction serials of Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon filmed in the same area.
Death Valley National Park, also, stood in for Mars. In this scene, the astronauts are walking in the vicinity of Zabriskie Point.
Also, the Stovepipe Wells area was utilized. Scenes from the 1977’s Star Wars (Episode IV – A New Hope) filmed in the area as well.
