Fright Night Part 2 (1988) Film Locations

Three years after the first film, Charley Brewster and Peter Vincent are back. However, Charley through some intense psychiatric therapy now believes there are no such things as vampires and that Jerry Dandrige was nothing but a serial killer. He’s in college with a new girlfriend. Everything is golden. Then Charley goes to visit his friend Peter Vincent and everything comes undone.

I felt I needed to track down Peter Vincent’s apartment.

The eerie castle-like structure reminded me Neuschwanstein Castle. A little internet sleuthing and I found it. The building is Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #616. The French-Norman style complex was designed in 1928 by Leland Bryant. He designed other famous buildings such as the Afton Arms Apartments, Sunset Tower, Chateau La Fontaine, Voltaire Building, Fontenoy, Moderne Sun Towers and Romanesque Villa Apartments.

When Charley visits Peter, he notices a new tenant arriving. Yep, vampires. But this time the motley crew contains a werewolf played by the lovable Uncle Rico – John Gries.

After visiting Peter Vicent’s abode, I decided to take in the Civic Symphony location. In the film, Charley’s girlfriend surprises him with tickets to Mahler at the Civic Symphony. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County’s east entrance with the rotunda portrayed the Civic Symphony building.

The rotunda is home to one of the very first piece of public art funded by Los Angeles County, a statue by Julia Bracken Wendt entitled Three Muses, or History, Science and Art.

Everything ends all right and Charley and Alex decide to make out in the Exposition Park Rose Garden next to the Natural History Museum.
