Strange New World (1975) Film Locations

“To seek out strange new worlds …” – Captain James T. Kirk

Warner Archives has recently made available Gene Roddenberry’s “Pax Trilogy”. His post Star trek attempts that dealt with PAX, a super awesome science group, in a post-apocalyptic Earth. Strange New World was the third attempt and Gene was not involved having left Warner and moved back to Paramount. This may be the reason that the hero’s name changed. In all previous incarnations, the hero was Dylan Hunt. In fact, John Saxon played Dylan Hunt in the second movie – Plant Earth. But in Strange New World, he is Captain Anthony Vico.

Strange New World has our intrepid heroes, who have been in cryogenic storage in an orbiting space station for the past 200 years, return to Earth after their thaw. A cataclysmic asteroid shower decimated Earth while they were on ice. Now Ookla the Mok, Princess Ariel, and Thundarr … sorry wrong post-apocalypse. Now Captain Vico, Dr. Crowley and Dr. Scott are roaming Earth looking for the lost PAX headquarters.

In the first of two episodes that make up Strange New World, they visit Eternia. Honestly, I think I hear Martine Beswick refer to the place as Eternia. There is some nefarious cloning going on in this “paradise” that rubs Vico and his short tunic the wrong way. Also, Captain America from the 1970s, or Mr. Yor – Hunter of the Future, if you please, is really pissing Vico off.
