House II (1987) Film Locations

Weird time travelling supernatural Mayan horror spook bromance up your alley? You want to party with a young smarmy Bill Maher? You like zombies and getting them tanked? What about time portals? What about crystal skulls? Maybe you have a F. A. Mitchell Hedges interest. What about weird prehistoric domesticated pets? If your answer is ‘Yes’ to any of the above, this film deserves a smidge of your attention.

I had never seen House II: The Second Story until recently. After watching the original, I had to be a completist and watch the sequel. If you finished House (1986) and contemplated continuing your voyeuristic following of Roger Cobb’s life, this film will not satiate those desires. It has no relation to the first film except another magical Cheer’s cast member.

Jesse (Arye Gross) and his girlfriend return to his old family mansion twenty-five years after Slim Reaser murdered his parents. Soon, his good buddy Charlie (Jonathan Stark) and Lana (Amy Yasbeck) show up. Jesse and Charlie dig into Jesse’s parents’ things. They find a picture of Jesse’s great-great grandfather (and namesake) in front of a Mayan temple holding a crystal skull. Also in the photo is Slim Reeser, a former partner of his great-great grandfather turned bitter enemy. Things just go downhill for Jesse at that point. Including reviving his zombified great-great grandfather and an eventual show-down wilt Slim Reaser.

Both of the major locations were easy to determine.
