Superman Plaque – Tarzana, California

To commemorate the 100th birthday of George Reeves, Jerry Siegel, and Joe Shuster, a plaque was dedicated in a public ceremony in Tarzana on August 16, 2014. I wished I could have made the date, but family obligations kept me away.

This corner spot on Wilbur is important in the annals of the Adventure of Superman television show because it is the only outdoor film location which includes all five main characters: Inspector Henderson, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White. The episode was titled “The Man Who Could Read Minds” (episode #29).

Over 60 people showed up for the public dedication, including Jack Larson (Jimmy Olsen). The links below provide some details of the news coverage.

If you are a Superman fan who lives in Southern California, or a visiting Superman fan, make your pilgrimage to this sleepy area of Tarzana. And, remember, this is in a quiet neighborhood, so be cool to the residents when visiting.

Kudos to Jim Nolt and Armand Vaquer for making this happen.

Location:

At the corner of Linnet Street and Wilbur Avenue – about 5400 Wilbur Avenue, Tarzana, California.
